Name Change
If you reside in Isle of Wight County, you may file for a Name Change in the Isle of Wight County Clerk’s Office.
ADULT:
The application & instructions for completing a adult name change can be found at the Supreme Court of Virginia’s Website or in the Clerk’s Office. Once you have completed the adult name change application you will submit it to the Clerk’s Office along with any supporting documents (ID, Birth Certificate, Legal Documents, etc.) that you like. The cost to file a name change is $41.00.
MINOR:
The application & instructions for completing a minor name change can be found at the Supreme Court of Virginia’s Website or in the Clerk’s Office. Both parents listed on the minor’s birth certificate must sign the application. Once application is completed you will need to bring the application to the Clerk’s Office along with any supporting documents such as, Birth Certificate, Copy of photo ID for parent(s) signing application and or any legal documents you may have. The cost to file a name change is $41.00.

Isle of Wight Circuit Court accepts the following payments: Cash, Checks, Money Orders, Visa and MasterCard.
Please be aware that we charge a convenience fee for the use of a credit card. In accordance with Va. Code §19.2-353.3, returned checks and credit cards will be assessed an additional fee of $50.00 or ten percent of the value of the dishonored payment, whichever is greater.
