Nike Park (Park-to-Park) Trail

NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

NOVEMBER 1, 2017 Isle of Wight County will be constructing the Nike Park Trail Project in the Battery Park Road and Nike Park Road corridors over the next 18 months. The project will consist of approximately 3.1 miles of 8-10-foot-wide asphalt path parallel to the existing roadway. Construction activities could include tree clearing, earthwork, drainage improvements, pedestrian bridge installation, driveway improvements, and path construction.

LOCATION

Segment 1: The south side of Battery Park Road from the intersection of S. Church Street and Battery Park Road to the intersection of Battery Park Road and Nike Park Road. (Approximately 1.3 miles)

Segment 2: The south side of Nike Park Road from the intersection of Nike Park Road and Battery Park Road to the entrance to Nike Park in Carrollton. (Approximately 1.8 miles)

TIMELINE

Mobilization and construction activities on both Segment 1 and 2 should begin mid-November 2017. Construction should take 12-18 months. Standard work hours are 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Weather or other unforeseen conditions may require schedule revisions.

IMPACT TO PROPERTY OWNERS and TRAVELERS

Minimal shoulder and lane closures are expected, but will occasionally be necessary in the case of tree removal, equipment access, and supply deliveries. Driveway improvements and crossings may provide temporary delays in access to individual properties. Emergency and residential access will be maintained.
