  • NO trapping on Holidays, Saturdays or Sundays unless otherwise directed by IOWCAS staff.
  • Only residents of Isle of Wight County,  VA can check out these traps.

  • You must ensure that the animal is protected from the elements at all times.
  • No trapping during weather advisories, warnings or inclement weather of any kind (including rain, freezing or extreme temperatures) This is strictly for the safety of the animal.  There may be certain circumstances that require the capture of a sick or injured animals during these times. If that is the case, the contained animal must be protected from the elements or placed in a cool/warm, dry or covered environment and an ACO must be notified immediately.
  • IOWCAS traps are to be used in the live capture of companion animals only.  Traps may be used with permission, if wildlife is believed to be rabid at time of requested trapping. Otherwise, please contact Department of Wildlife Resources about issues or relocating wildlife at 1-855-571-9003 or visit their website for a list of wildlife trappers available to help.
  • You must ensure that the trap is kept safe, undamaged and secured to the property of the address registered above.
  • You must check the trap as often as possible, but no less than two times per day.
  • You are responsible for the replacement price of the trap if the trap is stolen, damaged or not returned to the facility within 10 days of the specified return date. Prices range from $50.00 up to $250.00 depending upon the trap that is issued to you.
  • If you are found to have lied to a staff member or officer about the return/pick up of a trap, criminal charged may apply.
  • Use extreme caution in handling any trapped animal as there is a heightened risk for biting and scratching.
  • If you are an individual seeking assistance with trapping 10 or more cats at a time, please speak with staff for other trapping services that may be available to you.
