Georgette C. Phillips – Commonwealth’s Attorney
Georgette Phillips was appointed as Commonwealth’s Attorney in December 2014 after Wayne Farmer resigned from the position to accept a Circuit Court Judgeship. Georgette has served the citizens of Isle of Wight County for 14 years, first as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, then as Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney, and now as Commonwealth’s Attorney. She has previously had the privilege to serve as Commonwealth’s Attorney for Isle of Wight County in 2008 upon Parker Councill’s resignation and prior to Wayne Farmer’s election. Steve W. Edwards – Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney
Steve Edwards has served the citizens of Isle of Wight for six years, first as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney and now as Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney. Prior to that he was an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Southampton County for 10 years. He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and William and Mary Law School. He has practiced law in Isle of Wight County and neighboring jurisdictions for over 30 years.

Patrick A. Clark – Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney
Patrick Clark came to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney in Isle of Wight in 2014. Prior to that he was an Associate at the Clark Law Office. His practice consisted primarily of criminal defense work, but he also served as court appointed guardian ad litem and handled a variety of civil litigation. William “Sam” Roots – Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney
Sam Roots came to the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney in Isle of Wight in 2017.  Prior to that he was a solo practitioner in Newport News.  His practice consisted primarily of criminal defense work.  He is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and Washington and Lee School of Law.  He has practiced law in Isle of Wight County and neighboring jurisdictions for over 25 years.  wroots.iwca@gmail.com.
