Federal Taxes

For any federal taxes that may apply to your business please contact the Internal Revenue Service.

Federal Employer Identification Number
To apply for a Federal Employer Identification Number file Federal Form SS-4. This form can be obtained from any Internal Revenue Service office, or from the IRS Forms and Publications page.

Employee Income Tax
Employers are required to collect Federal Income tax and Social Security (FICA) taxes from their employees. These taxes are then filed quarterly on Federal Form 941.

Corporate Income Tax
Individual, partnership, and corporate income taxes are filed with the IRS. Please reference IRS Publication 334, available from the IRS Forms and Publications page.

Federal Unemployment Tax
This tax must be filed each year by January 31 and is assessed to the employer only. Use Federal Form 940, available from the IRS Forms and Publications page.
