Passports
**DUE TO CURRENT RESTRICTIONS AND GUIDELINES IN PLACE, YOU MUST HAVE A APPOINTMENT TO APPLY FOR A PASSPORT**
Passport applications are available at the Clerk’s Office or by visiting U.S. Department of State.
Passport applications are accepted Monday thru Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm. An Appointment is required, please call (757) 365-6233 to schedule an appointment today!
When applying for a new Passport Book or Card for an Adult, please bring the following:
- Completed Passport Application (completed in Black Ink, do not sign)
- Proof of Identity with a photo copy front and back (Valid Virginia Driver’s License)
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship with a photo copy (Original Birth Certificate with seal and both parents listed or Expired Passport)
- Passport Photo (must be recent and in color)
- Check or Money Order to send with Passport Application (see U.S. Department of State for Fees)
- Payment for Clerk’s Processing Fee ($35.00 per application)
When applying for a Passport Book or Card for a Minor, please bring the following:
- Completed Passport Application (completed in Black Ink, do not sign)
- Minor must be present
- Both parents present with their Proof of Identity with a photo copy of ID front and back per minor applying (Valid Virginia Driver’s License). If one parent can not be present, they must submit form DS-3053 with copy of front and back of their ID
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship with a photo copy (Original Birth Certificate with seal and both parents listed)
- Passport Photo (must be recent and in color)
- Check or Money Order to send with Passport Application (see U.S. Department of State for Fees)
- Payment for Clerk’s Processing Fee ($35.00 per application)
Processing time for regular service is 6 to 8 weeks. Processing time for expedited service is 2 to 3 weeks. If you need your passport in less than 2 to 3 weeks, you need to visit U.S. Department of State for instructions.

To obtain a copy of a birth certificate in the United States, write or go to the vital statistics office in the state where the event occurred. To obtain a Virginia issued birth certificate, please contact your local DMV.
Isle of Wight Circuit Court accepts the following payments: Cash, Checks, Money Orders, Visa and MasterCard.
Please be aware that we charge a convenience fee for the use of a credit card. In accordance with VA. Code §19.2-353.3, returned checks and credit cards will be assessed an additional fee of $50.00 or ten percent of the value of the dishonored payment, whichever is greater.
