Smithfield Sidewalk Improvements
This project was initiated by Isle of Wight County and will be locally managed by Isle of Wight County Transportation Department Division, in partnership with the Town of Smithfield and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Funding will be provided by State and Federal transportation grants and local capital funds.
Project SummaryThe goal of this project is to provide approximately 4,600 feet of variable width sidewalk improvements connecting the Westside Elementary School and Great Springs/ Quail Street neighborhoods with downtown Smithfield at Grace Street. It will also provide improved pedestrian crossing facilities at Route 10 to allow for safe pedestrian foot traffic. The improvements will include minimal curb and gutter and drainage improvements.
