Environmental services for the Isle of Wight Landfill Sole Source Notice PENDING

Our landfill consultant, HDR Inc., has been the County’s primary post-closure care/monitoring Consultant for the past ten (10) years. Services provided include; managing environmental permits, preparation of reports and construction plans, providing testing services, and corresponding with State agencies. HDR’s guidance has been integral in the County’s successful termination of the VPDES (stormwater) permit associated with this facility. The expended engineering fees have consistently been in accordance with or below budget.
However, due to the long tenure of this contract, staff is preparing an RFP to ensure we meet the competitive nature of our policy and statutes of the Commonwealth. The term contract with HDR expired 8/7/22 but is being extended until competitive bidding is complete. The short term extension is necessary to properly manage the County’s asset and to ensure the County remains in compliance with DEQ’s Permit requirements. The RFP is expected to be advertised in September 2022.
