Grant assistance to help low- and moderate-income homeowners pay for septic tank pump-outs is now available through Isle of Wight County on a first-come, first-served basis.
To qualify for assistance, homeowners must live in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed region of Isle of Wight County, meet federal income guidelines, and complete an application. Income eligibility is based on low- and moderate-income limits set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Isle of Wight County for 2011.
The 2010-2011 income limits are:
1-person household, $39,150
2-person household, $44,750
3-person household, $50,350
4-person household, $55,900
5-person household, $60,400
6-person household, $64,850
7-person household, $69,350
8-person household, $73,800
The Chesapeake Bay Watershed region covers the eastern half of the county. The watershed’s western boundary roughly follows Route 258 (Courthouse Highway) going south toward the Town of Windsor. The watershed boundary continues along the western end of Windsor and then angles in toward the boundary with the City of Suffolk.
