JenniferJennifer Williams, Historic Resources Manager
In my role as historic resources manager, I am responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the County’s historic museums and sites: the Isle of Wight County Museum, Boykin’s Tavern Museum, Fort Boykin, Fort Huger and the Old Jail. I promote and coordinate ongoing historical interpretation, strategic planning, community outreach and public relations.

TraceyTracey Neikirk, Curator, Isle of Wight County Museum and Boykin’s Tavern
As curator, I am responsible for the care, conservation, and exhibit of the artifacts held in our collections. I research topics for exhibit as well and work with community members on specific local interest projects. My task is to keep the collection aligned with the division's mission and expose the community to the history of Isle of Wight County.

DeniseDenise Haynes, Administrator
I am currently the administrator at the Isle of Wight County Museum and part of the Historic Resources team. I work with a great supporting staff and volunteers who enjoy teaching people about the history of the county. My bachelor of arts degree in anthropology led me to work for several years in cultural resources management and allowed me to pursue interests in historic architecture, archaeology and historic research. I have volunteered at various history museums over the years and am thrilled to be working in such a historically rich area.

Sue
Sue Anderson, Site Coordinator
I am the site coordinator for Boykin’s Tavern Museum as well as a retired registered nurse with an avid interest in history and historic preservation. Upon my retirement from health care, I was fortunate to obtain a position as a docent at Boykin’s Tavern. This position eventually evolved into employment as the site coordinator which has allowed me to pursue my interest in historic preservation and to continue to interact with our visitors through historical interpretation. Boykin’s Tavern offers over 200 years of history. We are privileged to share this history with our visitors.

CarleneCarlene Young, Docent and Collections Assistant
I work at Boykin’s Tavern as a docent and collections manager, and I assist with curatorial work at the Isle of Wight County Museum. After 25 years in medical office work, I found my true passion: historic preservation and interpretation. As a docent, I have the pleasure of interpreting an 18th century building as well as documenting and preserving the collection within the building. At the Isle of Wight County Museum, I am learning to identify, preserve and date artifacts. I look forward to sharing Boykin’s Tavern and the Isle of Wight County Museum with you.

kathyKathy Mountjoy, Historic Resources Specialist

My role as historic resources specialist allows me to plan and participate in many programs for the department. My personal history is closely tied to Isle of Wight County since my childhood home was Boykin's Tavern. I grew up in a family who loved history and feel privileged to have the opportunity to share the story of our county and region with anyone who will listen.

  Mary
Mary Hood, Docent
I am a docent at Boykin’s Tavern Museum. When I retired from Hampton City Schools in 2003, I wanted to find a part-time job in our community. Serving as a docent is perfect for me. I love meeting new people and learning more about history. Boykin’s Tavern is a wonderful old home with an interesting story of its own which I love to share with visitors.
