 Our Mission

Isle of Wight County recognizes the importance of GIS as a tool to support its Mission. The Information Technology Department provides GIS data and services to County Staff and citizens, as well as outside agencies.  The functionality of Isle of Wight County’s GIS will continue to grow as the availability and accuracy of new data improves and the speed and performance of software increases.

Why have a GIS?

A Geographical Information System (GIS) is a computerized system use to bridge the gap between spatial data and tabular information (databases).  GIS provides the ability to capture, store, analyze and manage data with spatial references to the earth's surface.  GIS helps improve decision making and allows users to more easily visualize patterns, correlations, and trends.

What can the GIS department do for me?
