Important Information regarding 2019 Construction General Permits!

The General VPDES Permit for Discharges of Stormwater from Construction Activities expires on June 30, 2019.  Operators of construction activities with permit coverage under the existing Construction General Permit that will continue land-disturbing activities after June 30, 2019 or for which final stabilization has not been achieved must reapply for permit coverage.  Operators are required to submit a Registration Statement by May 1, 2019 and the permit regulation authorizes DEQ to administratively continue coverage for all permittees under the 2014 permit if a complete registration statement is received no later than June 30, 2019.

The following items are required to re-apply for permit coverage:

1.)  The complete and signed Registration Statement submitted to Isle of Wight County Stormwater Division no later than by May 1, 2019.  For a copy of the new registration form, as well as the notice of termination form (if required), click on the download buttons below.

2.)  There is no fee for reissuance of permit coverage; however, DEQ will not re‑issue permit coverage to any operator with outstanding annual permit maintenance fees until the maintenance fee balance is paid in full.  Fees can be paid by check or online referencing the County’s application number at: https://www.paybill.com/IsleofWightCounty/PermitPayments/card/default.asp.  Please contact the Stormwater office if you are unsure what is due for your project.

Registration Statements may be submitted electronically using the following e-mail address: iowvsmp@isleofwightus.net.  Please be sure to include all attachments and make sure the Registration Statement is signed by the appropriate person as explained in the instructions.  Hard copies of the Registration Statement may be submitted through US Postal to the address above.

Please note that all hand deliveries must be scheduled in advance, by calling the main number 757-365-1659.  If construction activities are complete and the project meets the termination criteria as listed in Part I F of the 2014 general permit, please submit a Notice of Termination to Isle of Wight County as soon as possible.  Please note, Isle of Wight County is responsible for certifying to DEQ that construction is ongoing and continuing for projects maintaining old technical design criteria, prior to permit renewal.
