A Message from Mrs. Hall

Welcome to Isle of Wight County! I hope that whether you are a newcomer or a long-time resident, you will love our county as much as I do. I believe it is my job to be responsible to you, the citizens, and if there is ever any way that I can help you, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I have been a resident of Isle of Wight for more than 20 years and live in the Morgart’s Beach area, which is in the Hardy District. I was born in raised in Ivor, Virginia, only a stone’s throw from Isle of Wight and spent much time in this county growing up. I studied at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. and then went to Journalism school at Virginia Commonwealth University. I was a newspaper reporter and editor for more than 25 years at several newspapers in the area and “retired” a couple of years ago although I still work part-time in addition to the duties of this office. I currently host a local talk show, “Smithfield Today”, that airs on Charter Cable and is produced by Prime Media Productions.

I am a firm believer in open, responsive government and believe that I can appropriately be described as a conservative when it comes to government spending. My goal is to make Isle of Wight County the kind of community that our children will one day want to return to live, work, and raise their children. Did I already say that I love this county?

My husband is Mark Hall, an Isle of Wight County native, who is president of his family business, Hallwood Enterprises, and who also is a real estate developer in Smithfield. We have three children: Russ, who is 26 and married to Chrissie; Savannah, a senior at Smithfield High School; and Hayley, a sophomore at Smithfield High. As you can tell, I am also a big supporter of Isle of Wight County Public Schools.
