Beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2017, crews with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will temporarily close Old Myrtle Road (Route 632). This closure will last up to 90 days allowing crews to demolish the old Carrsville Bridge and install pier foundations and girders for the new bridge.
Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour. Emergency vehicles will always be able to access the roadway. Local traffic should not attempt to drive through the work zone.
The Carrsville Bridge Replacement project has been underway since March 2016 and is scheduled for completion in November 2017. The project will replace the existing bridge over the CSX Railroad on Route 58 and require installation of stormwater facilities. All construction work is dependent upon weather conditions. Please drive with caution at all times through the work zone.
During the project, Carrsville Highway (Route 58) will be closed and a signed detour will be in place. To learn more, please visit http://www.virginiadot.org/projects/hamptonroads/carrsville_highway.asp.
