Fort Huger Walking Tour: 5/19

FORT HUGER WALKING TOURS
10 a.m.
March 24, May 19, July 21 and September 22, 2018

Fort Huger, pronounced Hu-gee, sits on the James River on a site formerly known by several names – Hardy’s Bluff, Harden’s Bluff and Mother Tynes’ Bluff. The overlook and deep navigable channel just offshore made this location a strategic military position for the observation of – and potential engagement with – activity along the river. During the American Civil War, a fort was built here for that purpose.

Join us for this free guided tour to learn the significance of this gateway to the Confederate capital.

Meet us at the fort: 15080 Talcott Terrace Isle of Wight County, Va. 23430.
