Dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and other companion animals are available at the Isle of Wight County Animal Shelter. As of March 1, 2013 we now have an adoption fee!
Dogs & Puppies are $90, Cats & Kittens are $75 and all other companion animals are $25 unless stated differently.
Those fees include:
• Spay/Neuter
• Vaccinations & deworming (including Rabies shot)
• and Heartworm testing for dogs
The cost for this medical care at local veterinary offices would easily exceed $200.00.
Our goal here at the shelter is to see every animal adopted or transferred out to a dedicated rescue group. The shelter accepts volunteers 7 days a week. You must come in and fill out a volunteer application and then you may come whenever we are open. Volunteers will be allowed to bathe animals, walk dogs, socialize with the animals, clean cat and dog kennels, assist in giving medications. We are happy to have you help out with any shelter functions you are comfortable working with. Volunteers are also needed for transporting animals to rescue organizations and vet appointments. We are also in need of foster families to foster dogs from the shelter until we can find them a forever home. Our volunteers are an invaluable resource and we thank them all for their service!

Below are the Dog and Cat Adoption Applications and Shelter Volunteer Applications. Any forms will need to be filled out before any adoption is finalized or you begin volunteer work.
